Summary
The Laboratory of Neural Circuit Modulation in the Department of Neurology at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking highly motivated and creative scientists. The applicant will join an NIH-funded lab to engage in basic and translational neuroscience research. The laboratory uses in vivo 2-photon imaging, electrophysiology and optogenetic approaches to better understand GABAergic inhibitory mechanisms that control neural activity dynamics in health and epilepsy.
Job Duties
Plans, directs, and conducts specialized and advanced research experiments.
Evaluates and analyzes data.
Establishes new research protocols and procedures.
Summarizes research findings and publishes results in research journals.
Trains and supervises research staff and trainees.
Minimum Qualifications
MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
Ph.D. in Neuroscience or a related field.
Research experience and publication record (published, peer-reviewed first-author paper) in neuroscience.
Expertise in one or more of the following areas: Inhibition, interneurons, hippocampus, epilepsy, endocannabinoids.
Excellent written/oral communication in English.
Ability to work effectively in a dynamic and collaborative research environment.
Basic data science skills (Excel, statistics).
Prior experience in one or more of these techniques: mouse survival surgery, two-photon microscopy and analysis, patch-clamp, intracranial EEG monitoring and analysis, optogenetic techniques, mouse models of epilepsy.
Coding skills (Python).
